About The Star Rating Scheme
The Star Rating Scheme was developed to distinguish excellence in trades and skills training by evaluating trade and skills areas within training providers against industry developed criteria. Those organisations considered to be excellent have their achievements recognised by receiving a One, Two or Three Gold Star Rating. The Scheme has the support of each participating industry sector in the development, implementation and management of the program.
The RTO assessment process includes an initial self evaluation to be completed by the faculty or school against a set of criteria which has been defined by industry (click here to see the evaluation criteria). Schools or faculties who demonstrate potential to achieve a Star Rating receive a site visit by an evaluation team who determine whether they qualify to be awarded a rating.
RTOs awarded a One, Two or Three Gold Star Rating receive a valuable promotional package. In addition, the RTOs receive feedback from industry experts to help drive improvement.
The Scheme allows students, parents, career counsellors and employers to ascertain which RTOs within their field of interest have been recognised with a Star Rating by industry.
